Angela Diane Sandquist, known to friends and family as Angie, passed away peacefully after a courageous battle with colon cancer on March 30, 2025, in Cibolo, Texas, where she spent most of her adult life. She was surrounded by her loving family during her final days and will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Angie was born on August 24, 1964, in Sacramento, California, to Oather and Dearlane Buckland. She was raised in a nurturing and loving home alongside her brother, Greg, which shaped her into the devoted and compassionate person she became.
Her life was marked by her deep love for family, her caring nature, and her unwavering faith in God. She was the beloved wife of Michael Sandquist, and the loving mother to Caralyne Zuta, David Sandquist, Emilie Gonzalez, and Abbi Sandquist; as well as an honorary mom to Matt Makley. She found immeasurable joy in her role as a grandmother, leaving a legacy of love, kindness, and devotion. Grandchildren brought her great joy. Her grandchildren include Elijah Zuta, Daniel Zuta, Adalyn Sandquist, and Alessandra Gonzales.
For much of her career, Angie was a Registered Nurse, with a special focus on neonatal care. As the neonatal nurse in maternity wards, her compassion and nurturing spirit were evident with every patient and baby she cared for. Later in her career, she worked as a school nurse at First Baptist Academy in Universal City and then at Kitty Hawk Middle School. In addition to her work as a nurse, Angie’s love for wellness led her to pursue training as a yoga instructor. She was passionate about both teaching and practicing yoga, not only for its physical benefits but also for the peace and spiritual connection it brought into her life.
Her creativity and zest for life were an inspiration to those who knew her. Angie had a deep love for God’s nature and loved spending time hiking and exercising her considerable photography talents in city, state and national parks. She was an avid reader, enjoyed crafts, and loved playing with her dogs. Above all, she adored spending time with her children and grandchildren, cherishing every moment of joy they brought her.
A devout Christian, Angie lived her faith every day. She spent hours reading scripture and embodied the values of kindness, compassion, and love. She believed in the importance of loving everyone and living a life full of joy and freedom. Angie’s faith and positive energy were a guiding light for her family, and she touched the hearts of everyone she encountered.
A memorial service to celebrate Angie’s life will be held on April 9, 2025, at 12:00 p.m. Central at First Baptist Church of Universal City. Family and friends are invited at 11:00 a.m. to visit and honor her memory and the beautiful life she lived.
Angie’s unwavering faith, love for everyone, and joyful spirit will remain in the hearts of all who knew her.
